According to Webster, a trend is "a tendency and/or a current style or fashion." Just like the changes in seasons, trends come and go. A majority of trends are repeats of the past. Some, such as leggings, flats and Jackie O.-inspired sunglasses, come back in full swing. Some trends, like leg warmers, try to make a comeback and flop. Lastly, some trends do not ever need to be resurrected from the fashion grave.
Over the past 20 years, our culture has been witness to a great wave of fashion trends. Although none of us are experts, one does not have to get a second opinion from Stacy and Clinton to classify certain trends as clothing disasters.
Number one on the list of trends gone wrong are the "man capris." The pants are designed specifically to be worn by men, even though they are identical to the cute capri pants sold at Charlotte Russe.
"One of the most horrible fashion trends of all time is the metro male capri pants," said Brandon Batson, senior interdisciplinary studies. "These so-called pants should be banned from the face of the earth for the betterment of men everywhere."
Number two is a horrific combination of a pair of Chucks and stilettos. The original purpose of Converse's Chuck Taylor All Stars was as an athletic shoe. The purpose of stilettos was to elongate and make legs appear slimmer. The two were never meant to be friends.
"I just don't think athletic shoes and high heels go together," said Jessica Boulware, sophomore business administration. "High heels are meant to be dressy."
Number three is a trend made popular in the late 90s by rapper, Eminem. The rapper burst onto the music scene in 1999 with a head of glowing blonde hair. This trend inspired many easily influenced males to douse their hair with bottles of peroxide.
"Peroxide as hair color is not the way to go," said Brittany Sullivan, sophomore interdisciplinary studies. "Who wants to get their hair dye from a first aid kit?"

I disagree with the above remark. I think in these tough economic times we need to rethink our old ways of thinking.
