Nathan Willis, junior broadcast media, is directing a new mini-series called Freaks. The mini-series is about how "an unnatural disaster strikes the campus of North Greenville University and a small group of students are forced to muster all their courage, strength and intellect in order to avoid calamity."
It is a romantic comedy and stars Matthew Martinez, senior theater, and Britney Teie, senior theater. Freaks is written by Willis, Brandon Batson, senior undecided, Eric Sorrell, senior interdisciplinary studies, and Matt Aughtry and is sponsored by the Baptist Student Union.
Willis and Batson are co-directing the mini-series. Batson and Willis got the idea of Freaks because of Willis and Batson's love of zombie movies, and Willis has always thought it would be cool to be stuck in the Mass Communications Department.
If you have always wanted to be in a movie and think you will never be asked, now is your chance. Freaks is in need of a lot of extras. For more information on getting involved, join the facebook group Freaks: The Mini-Series. The goal of the mini-series is to entertain.
Willis' comment on the mini-series was "there's not a blatantly Christian message, but I think we can worship God through laughing." The first part of the six week series is set to come out Thursday, March 15 at Fusion/BSU.
