As college students, are we ready to start thinking about marriage? Marriage is a sacred thing, something that should be handled delicately and gradually. In many Christian universities, people talk about meeting their soul mates. For some of us single people, we hate hearing that. It's more like pressure to get out of being single. Most college students don't know themselves until they have matured enough and grown into the person they are going to be. Over time things may change and if you get married while young, how will you know what you want? Single life should be cherished and not rushed because you have the rest of your life to be married.

For some of us, marriage may not be the right thing. Even the Bible suggests that marriage is not for everyone. In I Corinthians 7:8 Paul wrote, "A word to the unmarried and to widows: It is good for them if they remain as I am." Being at a Christian university sometimes seems as if we are being pushed or rushed into getting married but maybe it's hard for those who are not supposed to get married. Clearly Christian universities don't teach that opposing part.

I don't want to bash marriage because I think it's a wonderful thing, but I just think you should hear both sides of the story, single and marriage life. As I Corinthians 13:4 states, Love is patient. Just don't put a time line on marriage. Some of the greatest things in life are worth waiting for. Therefore, just be careful about making decisions at such a young age such as this. Decisions like marriage need time.
