There is a hidden secret in the world of culinary delicacy. If you're looking for a restaurant to make the night memorable for a special someone, then head over to Haywood Road. Just past the Haywood Mall exists a place where a romantic atmosphere caters to every man's goals of wowing their date into a good time, and another date.
The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, is the hidden treasure I speak of. For a restaurant of such class and elegance, it's hard to believe it sits next door to a karate center in a miniature shopping mall. But the outside world quickly fades away the moment you step into the world of fondue. Immediately, you feel like a third class passenger of Titanic in the middle of the first class deck.
Overhead music plays faintly enough to carry on a conversation without screaming to be heard. Each table is lit just right to set the tone of a relaxing dinner, and privacy around your table to feel individually catered to.
For a date for two, there are several taste bud-pleasing options of dipping flavors and meat variety. From the "Fondue For Two" menu are three different three-course options. The first course is the cheese fondue. A variety bowl of bread pieces accompanies a cheese of your choice from traditional, and popular, Cheddar to Swiss, Wisconsin Trio, or Fiesta.
For the second course, a garden salad, you can choose from three completely different tastes. The Mushroom Salad with Italian dressing, Chef's Salad with a sweet and tangy house dressing, or the California Salad with a raspberry black walnut vinaigrette.
The entrée course offers three meat selections of the traditional Signature Selection, the fancy Surf & Turf, or my personal favorite, Pacific Rim. Once you've chosen of those three meat selections, with a wide variety from tenderloin to lobster tails, you then decide from the four fondue flavors to sizzle your food in. The Coq au Vin choice is a taste of the French countryside with fresh herbs and imported spices. The Court Bouillon is a seasoned vegetable broth. Mojo flavor fondue is Caribbean seasoned with a citrus flair, and the Bourguignonne is a European style in cholesterol-free canola oil.
