Online journals and communities are sweeping North Greenville campus. Students are finding time to update even with the hectic schedules around exam time.

"I view it as a way to talk about your day and all the work you could be doing, but instead you are typing in your blog," said Jordan Graham, freshman, theatre.

The most commonly used online journals and communities include Xanga, Myspace, and LiveJournal. These sites take up a large amount of time, consuming students to not get work done.

An online journal, such as Xanga, is exactly what it says it is, an online journal. People can post things online just as they would write in a journal.

This comes with one exception, others can view it and leave comments.

"I think of web blogs as a way for people to get a small glimpse into your life," said Graham.

An online community, such as Myspace, is simply stated, "a web site used for blogging and keeping up with friends," said Brittany Fogg, freshman, biology.

According the livejournal.com, "LiveJournal is a simple-to-use (but extremely powerful and customizable) personal publishing ("blogging") tool."

All of these sites have free accounts that you can use, and it's "a good way to keep in touch with my friends," said Fogg.

You can find the above mentioned sites at the following locations: xanga.com, livejournal.com, and myspace.com.
