Joyful Sound Director dies over summer break
Erin Downing Staff Writer clarinet_chick_16@yahoo.com Rick Kirby, 47, minister and Joyful Sound Director, died Saturday, June 29. Kirby's death was a result of an automobile accident that he was involved in on Friday, June 14. Kirby and his wife, Becky, had two daughters, Karla, 17 and a senior at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, and Kelly a seventh grader.
McCorkle wins Miss South Carolina
The same feet that once walked the pathways of North Greenville College and the same feet that crossed the stage to receive a North Greenville College diploma, are now the same feet that are getting ready to step onto the stage of the Miss America pageant. Little did NGC know that it carried among its student body a future Miss South Carolina and a possible Miss America.
County tax increase may benefit North Greenville
Taxes may soon be increasing in Greenville County, but residents are hardly straining under the incline. The added one-cent to Greenville county residents' taxes is an effort by the county to increase revenue for the Parks and Recreation Department. This money will be used to build local parks, one of which may find its home directly across from North Greenville's campus. County residents will vote on the tax in the November general election.
Added professors make freshmen not the only new faces on campus
With the arrival of new students, also came the arrival of new faculty and professors. Many classes at North Greenville are literally busting at the seams. Hopefully, this arrival of new professors and faculty will help eliminate some this problem. Nearly every division and department has added at least one new staff member.
